Question by teddy: How long would it take to become a lawyer?
I am a high school junior. I will be doing two years at a community college, then transfering to a university for two years, then law school. What is the quickest way i can graduate from law school with all the necessary courses. How long will i be in school after high school before i am a lawyer?(assuming i pass everything)

depending on what courses you take in high school (APs, etc.) you can try to graduate from college in three years with a pre-law degree. if you go as quickly as you can and work really hard you could pass the bar exam after 3 years in law school. That’s 12th grade, 3.5 years in college, and 3 in law= 6 or 7 years.

Question by Michael: Will a dismissed misdemeanor affect my ability to go to law school and become a lawyer?
I received a minor consumption of alcohol charge when I was 20 years old. I was put in a diversion program which required me to complete community service, pay a fee, and the prosecution dismissed the case. I am wanting to go to law school. I was wondering if any of this would affect my future of wanting to be a lawyer. There will be no conviction on my record, but the arrest will still be on there. Should I try to get it expunged?

you should call the people who licence lawyers in your state, they will be able to tell you for sure. i would think you could still practice law with this on there though, but im not an expert and it would be best to know for sure before you go paying for law school.

Four years of college and at least two years of postgraduate work to get your LLD–then you have to pass the bar if you want to be an attorney, or just join a corporation to be a corporate counsel.

None in high school. There would be a number in law school, but you’re 8 years away from that question.

Question by centerfield: Will I be happier if I give up my own small law practice and become a big firm partner or a financial advisor?
I’m 38 and burned out. Considering a career change to a financial advisor but am wondering if practicing in a different environment such as taking an outstanding offer to joing a large firm as a partner should be tried first. I have been told from a friend who gave up law that I can potentially make more $ as a FA, have alot lot stress and work alot less hours after the first several years. I would appreciate others’ comments – especially any attorneys turned financial advisors out there. I want to get my life back!

Question by Xander: How hard is to become a lawyer?
Now this may seem like a dumb question but during the holidays I met up and saw people I grew up with and some are now lawyers and even lawyers for the state department. None of these people were gifted or super smart. Just wondering what it takes to be a lawyer?
