Question by logicmarty: Would you like tv to bring back the beer commercials and get rid of lawyer commercials/?
When a lawyer sues a store and wins, won’t the store have to raise prices to make up for the loss? And we pay for it. The lawyer, in effect is really taking money out of our pockets.

1.) I see beer commercials all the time on TV. How can you bring something back that never was taken away?
2.) It’s only a very small handful of lawyers that advertise on TV. Those that do are the “ambulance chasers” of today. I would not use any that do advertise like this.

No for two reasons. It must be required as a condition of your employment which is not true. If so it is a miscellaneous expense and those must exceed 2% of adjusted gross income to be deductible which is doubtful.

You probably do not need a lawyer. There should be a number on the subpoena. Call them and ask. If you have done nothing wrong you don’t need a lawyer, and the case is not against you. You are being subpoenaed so they can ask you questions about your time with that company. You can decline to answer their questions at any point if you feel you are incriminating yourself, and at that point you can back up and demand you have a lawyer present.

Question by Legal Eagle: What is the best way to bring in new clients to a small law firm without spending a fortune?
I work for a very small, relatively new law firm in Boston, Massachusetts. We get most of our clients from lawyer referrals, and that is awesome, but we need to bring in a few more quality clients per month. I have been put in charge of this task, with virtually no budget, and I am hoping somebody has some proven / creative ideas. Thanks!

So, you know what everyone is going to say. Chase Ambulances!
Depending on what the firm specializes in, you should join business trade groups or the local chamber, or BBB. Attend the meetings and network.
You may even want to sponsor an invormative meeting on a topic your firm specializes in.
