Should it be legal to record someone’s voice without their consent in their office?

Question by Lois Griffin: Should it be legal to record someone’s voice without their consent in their office?
If they say something in private that proves their real intent…….

why shouldn’t it be allowed in a court of law?

I think people should be held accountable for what they say to others in their office.
For example, discrimination cases are nearly impossible to prove.
The boss isn’t going to say any racial slurs when he knows damn well he’s being recorded.
but if he doesn’t know he’s being recorded…..then his true, private thoughts can be revealed.

Should there be a law that states anyone that wants to run for a State or Federal office must first serve …?

Question by gigi: Should there be a law that states anyone that wants to run for a State or Federal office must first serve …?
In the Military? I believe that if we had a law stating before you could run for State Rep, Congress, Senate, President, Vice President,Govener, and even Judges, we would have a group of people that had a better understanding of what it takes to keep a strong Military, we would get rid of the rich Professional Polititions, We would have a group of people that were more apt to put their Country before their own personal intrest. I also think that we would get a group of people that understood the real life in America. Right now all we have serving us in Government are rich people that are far away from the real problems of America and they have no clear understanding of how to solve the issues because they don’t live the average life of an American. Right now we have a group of rich people that think if they throw money at a problem it will take care of it. The problem is they always use the working person’s money to throw around, while they keep themselves protected. We need real people

I don’t think a law would work. The courts would be tied up for years with lawsuits and challenges. It might have to be a Constitutional amendment. But I could go for it if there was a grassroots movement to elect only veterans. I don’t care which party they belong to.

I have always said “Vote for the Veteran” and “Vote against the incumbent.

Q&A: Should I work as a lawyer for the government or work for a big law firm?

Question by Renaissance Lawyer: Should I work as a lawyer for the government or work for a big law firm?

Best answer:

Answer by Bill
It all depends on what school you went to , what kind of grades you obtained, and your extra curricular activities. Big Firms usually only take top students from top tier Law Schools but the Government is not as picky. Big Firms pay more but require more(usually 60 hour+ weeks), Government jobs are usually less structured and demanding but less. Good Luck

Question by gmghaydon: I’m a junior in High School, what should I do to get into law?
I want to do something with law, like a lawyer and possibly run for public office or judge later in life. What sort of things should I study, what college should I go to, etc?

I’m also a freshman and I have wondered about this career for myself. From my own research, here’s a number of things you should know (BTW I’m Canadian, but our countries are comparable).

Firstly, DO NOT attend community college. That is suicide. You don’t necessarily need to attend an ivy league institution. At the very least, you should attend a public state university.

Secondly, you need very good grades. I would advice you to shoot for atleast an 80% in everything. In addition, get involved in various extracurricular activities (volunteering, yearbook, sports etc).

As far as courses go, you should take atleast one senior science, math, language, english, social, language, and one other approved grade 12 course (first of all, find out which law school you want to attend and look at the requirements to gain admission. Most law schools require a year or two of understudy before you can enroll in the law program).

If you want to become a judge and run for public office, I would strongly sugget to you to obtain a LLM after you get your juris doctor.

And one last thing. If at all possible, take latin. Latin looks tremendously good on the university resume. Not only is it helpful to know what all the legal phrases mean prior to enrollment, but simply learning the language helps you learn in any academic discipline.

Good luck!

I like the way DD thinks, however his porn choice might be on the fruitier side, the jury is still out on that one. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Legal dictionary sounds like the way to go.

You’re going to hire a lawyer to fight the ticket? Do you realize the legal fees will cost more than the ticket itself? Just pay up and quit speeding.

Question by Pretty me :) : I am so nervous I am starting a new job tomorrow what should I expect?
How can I feel comfortable instead of nervous?
Paralegal Position at a Family Law office first job as a Paralegal.

Best answer:

Answer by zeebarista
Accept the fact that you are nervous, that is a normal part of a new job. My nerves took about a week to settle down after I started with my current job. Give yourself permission to be nervous, excited and to ask dumb questions.

Your first day will be mostly just showing you around, meeting people etc. The second day will be more focused on training.
