Question by logicmarty: Would you like tv to bring back the beer commercials and get rid of lawyer commercials/?
When a lawyer sues a store and wins, won’t the store have to raise prices to make up for the loss? And we pay for it. The lawyer, in effect is really taking money out of our pockets.
Best answer:
Answer by Mutt
1.) I see beer commercials all the time on TV. How can you bring something back that never was taken away?
2.) It’s only a very small handful of lawyers that advertise on TV. Those that do are the “ambulance chasers” of today. I would not use any that do advertise like this.

Question by Koolaid: What would happen if I fired my Lawyer the first day of court?
The Lawyer that I right now is more like a prosecuter fighting for the state of Texas. He is suppose to be defending me and im not happy with his services. Tomorrow is my first day of court to make a plea and I am not guilty of the shit that they’re accusing me of. I refuse to have a conviction for something small like Trespassing (Which is only a technicality. I wish to fire this Lawyer. What will happen if I waited until we got in court and I did fire him?

Question by Karan: What do you understand by the lawyer would get his in the back end?
This was taken from a John Grisham novel, The Testament and it decribes when a woman arrives into court with a gigolo and her lawyer. The author says she was sleeping with the gigolo and the lawyer would get his in the back end.

Question by Destini: what type of technology would you need if you were starting a law firm?
Best answer:
Answer by silvermoonstar3
A laptop and a cell phone? Maybe? You really don’t seem to need much technology to do it. My cousin’s wife started a law firm a while ago (which still appears to be fairly successful), and she doesn’t seem to have any special technology.

Question by Sweet n Sour: Which law firm would you go with?
Lawfirm A: They are located locally. They have done a lot of very big cases that have been in the news and have won lots of big judgments, have a ‘celebrity’ attorney at their office. They are a small firm size wise and have 5 attorneys on staff in total.
Lawfirm B: They are located further away, are not ‘famous’ however they specialize in the type of case I have and have even published a book on it.
I signed with A but am having second thoughts. Any ideas what to take into consideration?
thanks pork! Great point.
Best answer:

Take into consideration that you already signed a contract.
Remember, a good lawyer knows the law, but a great lawyer knows the judge. No lawyer wants a client that is willing to breach her contract.
You made your choice. Live with it.

Question by Ninja Rabbit 007: Would you support a law that forbids immigrants from voting?
The reason I ask is, most immigrants would be set in their ways culturally and how they think the government should be run, so they wouldn’t have had enough time to assimilate and become “Americanized”. Which may conflict with our cultural and moral values and the way we have run the gov. since it’s inception. So they come here, and if there is a high enough population of them in a given district of a state, a politician will most likely pander to them and try to introduce legislation that would favor them, yet most native born citizens would probably disagree with. Or they may elect one of their own to office. Either way, it may eventually completely change the landscape of this countries cultural/moral values, laws and our gov.; at the very least it will change the local areas.
Wouldn’t it be better to have a law that forbid immigrants from voting. Allowing only their children that were born and raised in the US to vote? Since they would most likely be fully assimilated.
We are already seeing this in places like Miami, where everything is Hispanic themed, or Minneapolis where a high muslim population has elected the first muslim to congress. This is the stepping stone these foreigners need to change the landscape of this country to better suit their religion, laws, culture, and/or the form of government of their home countries. For example, someone from a socialist style government would most likely vote for a candidate that had socialist views.
Why should we cater to them and change a winning formula that has worked for over 200 years?
I’m talking about immigrants that obtain citizenship.

Question by kentonskitty: If I cannot afford a lawyer and one is appointed why would I have to pay if found guilty?
Unless I misunderstood the judge during the reading of his rules regarding pleas and attorneys, he stated that if you plead not guilty and are appointed a lawyer because you cannot afford one, you will be required to pay the lawyer if you are found guilty. This does not sound ethical in opinion. The state is North Carolina. Please give me some feedback and explanation. It is the judicial branch that interprets the law, so who and when did this occur?
Best answer:
Answer by jwhip
Don’t lie. If you are guilty, plead guilty. If you lie an plead not guilty and are found guilty, then you should have to pay the court costs. Simple.

Question by teddy: How long would it take to become a lawyer?
I am a high school junior. I will be doing two years at a community college, then transfering to a university for two years, then law school. What is the quickest way i can graduate from law school with all the necessary courses. How long will i be in school after high school before i am a lawyer?(assuming i pass everything)
Best answer:
Answer by Kate
depending on what courses you take in high school (APs, etc.) you can try to graduate from college in three years with a pre-law degree. if you go as quickly as you can and work really hard you could pass the bar exam after 3 years in law school. That’s 12th grade, 3.5 years in college, and 3 in law= 6 or 7 years.
